Ontario Telemedicine Network

program overview

The North Simcoe Family Health Team offers Telemedicine Services through The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), a secured network spanning across Ontario and utilized by over 1400 healthcare facilities.

Telemedicine connects patients with specialists, and members of their health care team, using two-way videoconferencing technology. Patients can see and speak to their specialist the same way they would in person except they connect over a monitor instead. A Registered Nurse is present during the appointment to assist with any assessment needs.
The benefits of using Telemedicine include: decreased travel and costs, lower wait times, and increased convenience. OTN services are free to Ontario residents with a valid health card and patients do not need to be rostered with the Family Health Team.

Services include:

  • Dermatology
  • Oncology
  • Fitness Programs
  • Diabetes / Endocrinology
  • Psychiatry
  • And specialties from 40 areas of care
